When I was at school I managed to mess up all of my cookery lessons except for the ones where I was baking. I reckon that is because when baking I was actually making things that I liked to eat and so had an incentive not to mess it up.
Currently I am baking my first cake in over a year as I fancied making something to sate my sweet tooth so here is hoping it turns out well and I keep my track record with cakes, although having just checked it, it doesn’t look like it has risen properly.
While I will admit my cooking skills are nothing to be proud of and I will happily thank Sharwoods and Pataks for keeping me fed during my degree. I can just about manage to get by and to date I have yet to poison anyone, even when I have been responsible for cooking at barbecues. I still remember offering to cook for four and then realising I hadn’t cooked a proper meal prior to that, in my first year I was a devotee to putting stuff into an over and coming back 20-30 minutes later. So to suddenly offer to cook a meal was a touch over enthusiastic on my part but I managed thanks to Sharwoods to produce a Red Thai Chicken Curry with Bismati Rice with a choice of wines.
Right just got the cake out of the tin and it has kind of fell apart a little but it is salvageable but more importantly edible so now to eat it with the lemon cream.
