For more photos from last night at Glamorgan SU have a look here in the galleries. If you need to (or want to) contact me about any of the photos please email me at: dave@cameradave.co.uk or leave a comment.
As you might notice the site is looking rather different, the old site can be found here for the moment as I haven’t yet transferred everything across so if you are looking for something in particular go there and search.
Everything will be being moved across shortly though.
Woohoo! It’s nearly time to day a break from the boring 9 to 5 monotony of office life and begin a week of photography, something which I actually enjoy even if the money isn’t as good.
Not only do I get to do something I love I also get to indulge a shameful vice of mine - my love of the Welsh accent, as I am off to Glamorgan University for their Freshers’ Week. I know not everyone likes the Welsh accent, but I do thanks to my first year at university when I spent an inordinate amout of time with a girl from Port Talbot with the strongest Welsh accent I have ever heard (although that may change this week).
In fact my love of the Welsh accent is so great that I even gave a discount just because about 90% of the people there have Welsh accents, so this week will either make me hate the Welsh accent or show that there is no hope for me at all.
Which would you choose?
According to a recent survey about 40% of people would give up sex in exchange for a longer life and whilst this means I am not in the miniority yet it certainly seems to be that in a few years I could be. Personally I believe that life is for living and whilst it’d be nice to have a long life, I sure wouldn’t trade extra time for less fun.
After all think about it if you have less fun over a longer life that means you have to stretch the little fun you have out and whilst you might leave a good looking corpse that’s about it*.
Besides surely regular sex has health benefits? And in these days of limited exercise surely this is a great way to get people off the couch, or failing that at least get them active? Running a marathon has very little appeal to me- after all what’s the point of it? Whereas sex on the other hand may be energetic, but at least it’s enjoyable.
*The others might leave uglier, fatter corpses but they’ll probably last longer due to all the McDonalds preservatives they’ll have taken in.
It was only a couple of days ago that I was commenting on the shoddy service of First “not so” Great Western and now it seems that my current employment could be under threat because of their poor timekeeping, because of course their timekeeping directly affects mine.
I know this as I was called in for a word about this and it being pointed out that my lateness isn’t something that could be sustained after all it hardly fits in with the “business needs” of the company.
I pointed out that I had observed when offered these shifts that there could be a problem and so it was agreed we’d trial it. I’ve even raised the issue myself prior being called in and suggesting that they might want to change my hours if possible- Of course all this seems to have been forgotten when I was called into the meeting, which would suggest that they have shorter memories than my father and that is saying something even if in hindsight it’s not that surprising.
So I have repeated my offer of being prepared to change hours, only to be told that may be possible if it meets “business needs” but otherwise there could be a problem.
Good job I’m looking for other jobs already isn’t it!
